Heads Down - Thumbs Up!

Seven Up!

Our pep talks have been working; Baby is right in place, head down, for delivery.  Definitely a good thing!  Otherwise, the heartrate was good, and baby is growing right on track.  The ultrasound estimate was around 5 lb 13 oz today, at week 36.  Those estimates are very loose, but give a general idea.

Next week we are clear to head out to our big family beach trip.  The midwife said she would be very surprised if LC makes an appearance in the next week or so.  I have been feeling great.  She does have a friend who is a midwife in Pawley's Island and delivers at two local hospitals, so we have a back-up plan, just in case.  The heat is definitely affecting me more than most summers, but I am still fairly comfortable and mobile.  Sleep is a thing of the past at our size, but that is only going to get worse in the immediate future. We are so excited now that we can think about the trip and seeing the family!

And now, what you really want to see.... Pictures!  We got good 3D pics this time, now that baby's face is away from the placenta (and where it is supposed to be!).  You can see the umbilical cord running in front of baby's face, near the upper lip, and an arm is up by the face snuggling.  (Mental Image: a Captain Planet style delivery.)  You can even see eyelashes and a little bit of dark hair in some of the pics!

There's our little LC!!! Looks so snuggly!!

Update - Much Overdue!

We are 36 weeks pregnant now. LC goes through cycles of 'busy' days with lots of wiggles and activity (day and night), and then a few days of quiet time.

I have been fighting a cold for almost two weeks now, which is not unusual for this time of year, but annoying.  I'd just like to be past the cough before going into labor!

The Audiology team at work threw us a fabulous shower last Thursday. Experienced moms were full of good advice on managing life with kids, and the ladies known for their knitting gave LC some beautiful things!  Christian got to join us for the lunch.

My satalite office threw a surprise shower Friday with more goodies for LC and a few for the momma, as well!

I never gave the update from our 34 week visit...
Baby still sounds fine and everthing is growing right on track.  Because the placenta is in the front (unusual, but not a problem), the midwives can't be sure which way is up!  They have been fairly certain at both 32 and 34 weeks that the head is not quite in the right spot.  Based on hiccups (and no real knowledge of OB) I think LC's head has been tucked into my right hip.  Since late last week, after a few pep talks about how great it would be to hang out in my pelvic bone, the hiccups have shifted to imply better placement. Or I am skilled at wishful thinking.  We shall know for certain on Thursday, as we get an extra ultrasound to make sure baby is appropriately locked and loaded. IF baby is breech, we just schedule a flip'um procedure for 37-38 weeks. Really the absolute worst case scenario (baby refuses to flip, as did one of the aunts) is a Cesarean, so not a big deal at all.  The best part is that we get an extra peek at LC this week!

The past several weeks have been filled with baby-prep to-dos. We have had classes for us and classes for Maddie, a tour of the hospital and meetings with pediatricans, a lawyer, babysitters, etc.  We are keeping quite busy, but now that most of the immediate issues are settled, things slow down a bit.

The nursery still needs the decor put together, but most of the clothes and blankets are washed and sorted, and it is starting to look like a nursery rather than a laundry room!

We got our carseat last weekend and a firefighter/carseat expert/mom of 5 helped us check it out and showed us the ropes.  Baby's bed (pack-n-play) is set up in our room for however long that lasts.  Hospital bags are mostly packed! (Although if I went into labor today, we would stil have a little running around to do, to clear the camera memory and find batteries among other things.)

All in all, the Cristobals are doing well, just busy-busy getting ready to meet our LC. We are very excited as it keeps getting closer!

Week 34!

I feel great, but somewhat like I am carrying a watermelon.

Nursery Progress

The clothesline of clothes, toys, and goodies were a hit as a shower gift from the family.
So cute!

Daddy finished the bookshelf/window seat for the nursery.
Jefferson has made it his spot in the room - which is a perfect spot for him!

We spent much of the weekend going through clothes, blankets and toys to get things organized and ready.
The decor still has a way to go, but we are getting there!

This bunny has been our "training baby" for the pets.
(No arm bumping, stay out of the car seat, etc...)
He/she got to try on the cloth diapers this weekend - so precious!!
Our "Baby in the Dog's House" class instructor said we need to use a real doll, but bunny is it for now.

We are still looking for a changing table, and have plenty of loads of tiny laundry to do, we are getting excited that LC's arrival is soon!

Sunday (the 10th) was 34 weeks - the big mile stone is lung maturity.
Baby is nearly ready, just a few more weeks to go!

This week we are busy meeting with pediatricians, baptism class, birth class, and training for Maddie.
Lots to do to get ready!   I owe you a full nursery tour soon!

Nursery: Step 4

We accomplished a ton over the long weekend!  I am finally getting things posted.  Sorry for the delay!

The nursery carpet is cleaned.

The crib is assembled (although we still have to go get the mattress).

The bench in built and in final stages of painting.

Several loads of baby laundry, mostly linens and diapers, were cleaned.

We also picked up lots of supplies from Isacc and Isabelle's attic, including the swing, soothing chair, and bouncer.  They have been so sweet to share their baby things with us!

Our next steps are to finish the book shelf, repaint the shelves, and start setting up!

This weekend, we also got to see the Poes, who are expecting their little Charlotte about the time LC should arrive.

Crazy:  We are full term in five and a half weeks!

More updates from the weekend to come (hopefully!)
